First, we started with why.

Why is packaging so difficult?

We asked this simple question at the start of our journey. Why is it so difficult to make clamshell/blister plastic packaging that is easy to open, easy to recycle and easy to integrate into the existing manufacturing landscape?

Over 6000 people per year are admitted to hospital in the US due to packaging related injuries, 17 percent of adults over the age of 21 have been or know of someone has has been injured while opening a gift, and many people with physical and visual impairments still struggle to open products they have purchased.

Consumers still need more information on what can/can’t be re-cycled so that industry can effectively collect & process, while brands and manufacturers still rely on mixed-material packaging, which is notoriously difficult to recycle, and the problem is only set to get worse - it is estimated that by 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans.

We know that plastic packaging doesn’t have to be this way.

We know we can make packaging easier.

Circular Economy Innovation

“We need to move away from a linear plastics economy, where we take, make and dispose of plastic, and towards a circular system where we keep plastic in the economy and out of the natural environment. By 2025, The UK Plastics Pact will transform the UK plastic packaging sector .”

The UK Plastics Pact

Our mission is to integrate the Eazy-Open innovation into all plastic clamshell packaging manufactured globally.

The benefits of Eazy-Open are clear:

  • No added costs to production, with less material than the stud closure-type pack reducing material costs and waste.  The reduction in pack depth also reduces transport and display costs.

  • Easier recycling than plastic and cardboard packaging. The ease of opening enables compliance with future trends towards in-store packaging removal and wider environmental regulations.

  • Makes products more inclusive to those with physical disabilities, including the elderly, infirm, and visually impaired, along with significantly increasing the safety of opening such products in general.

What’s more, Eazy-Open can be integrated into existing manufacturing production now. Not in 10 years, not in 6 months, but today.

We can make packaging better. We can improve the experiences of all consumers, including those with disabilities, and support our environment at the same time.
